The pioneering spirit was put in us at an early age – over 200 years ago, to be precise, when our founding fathers Friedrich Koenig and Andreas Bauer invented a machine that changed the world: The printing press. At that time still driven by the power of a steam engine, it initiated the age of media and triggered countless inventions. An impressive achievement that is not only the cornerstone of our company, but also established an entire industry. At the same time, it shaped who we are today: One of the world’s largest printing press manufacturers, driven by the constant spirit of innovation.
Products manufactured on and with presses from Koenig & Bauer accompany people throughout the day: The newspaper at the breakfast table, the food packaging, the chip bag, the perfume bottle, the banknotes in the wallet – all these items are printed. The printing industry has long since left the limits of paper behind. The future belongs to print, especially in the growing packaging market. People are demanding smaller packaging sizes. Online retailing is booming. Individualized designs make unpacking an experience. The trust our customers place in us encourages us to constantly rethink the industry through new ideas and state-of-the-art technology.
People build our success story. After all, entrepreneurial success can only be achieved if employees feel comfortable in their workplace. For us, appreciation means letting employees have a say and implementing their ideas, promoting qualifications through company and external training programs, and supporting colleagues in balancing work and family. Mobile working, attractive part-time models or special campaigns for parents, children and young people are a matter of course for us. Our own company health insurance provides health cover for our employees. As a company covered by collective agreements, we also stand for fair wages.
We are particularly proud of the long service record of our employees – because it shows that we are on the right track. Those who have once belonged to the Koenig & Bauer family often remain a part of it.
The training of our junior staff has always played a special role for us: For they are the future of the company! As one of the first companies at that time – and one of the few today – we have maintained a state-recognized private vocational school with our own teaching staff for over 150 years. This enables us to closely link theory and practice and thus provide perfect preparation for the future. For us, the past is just as valid in the present as it is in the future.
